The FORTIS FC Player Pathway
The Fortis FC Player Pathway is designed to guide talented and dedicated players from the foundational stages of soccer to the professional level. Represented by the Fortis Pyramid, this pathway is built on Fortis FC Soccer’s Core Values, development programs, and elite opportunities. Each step provides a clear path for players to advance their soccer careers, whether they are just starting or aiming for the top leagues globally.
STEP 1
Start Local. Build the Foundation
The first step in the Fortis FC Player Pathway is to engage in the Developmental and Competitive Programs offered at local Fortis clubs.
Developmental Soccer
Developmental soccer introduces players to the game in a fun and engaging way. It’s ideal for newcomers who want to enjoy playing soccer without a strong focus on competition.
Competitive Soccer
For players seeking more advanced training and higher competition levels, the Competitive Program is the next step. It’s designed for those who are passionate about improving their skills and understanding the game at a deeper level.
STEP 2
Advance Through Fortis FC Select
Get recruited or nominated for the (Fortis FC) Fortis FC Select Program. The Fortis FC Select Program is an international initiative that forms "all-star teams" of top Fortis FC players worldwide, starting at age U13 through U19. These teams participate in various elite events in the U.S. and internationally, providing unique learning experiences that help players grow both as athletes and individuals. Players can get recruited for Fortis FC Select by being nominated by their club or by being scouted at one of our national events including (Fortis Fest) Fortis FC Fest (U13 only), Midwest Fortis FC Cup, and South Fortis FC Cup.
Regional Fortis FC Select Teams
U13-U15 Regional Team players compete in the International Fortis Cup. Top performing players will be selected for the National Team.
National Fortis FC Select Teams
U13-U15 National Team players will go on to represent Fortis FC at PDT. U16+ players compete in College Showcase events to maximize their exposure to college coaches and increase their potential of being recruited.
STEP 3
Reach Elite Youth Competition
The highest level youth leagues in the United States are the MLS Next and ECNL for the males and the Girls Academy for the females. Colorado Fortis FC's top teams compete in the Girls Academy league as well as the boys ECNL.. This is where the top Fortis FC players are compared to the talent of the country on a consistent basis.
STEP 4
Access Global Academy Opportunities
To push your game to the next level, the Fortis FC Player Pathway offers top level soccer academies around the world. The Fortis FC Select Academy, Spain Fortis FC-SPF, and TFA Fortis FC Dubai offer year-round residential programs for serious, top-level athletes who live, breathe, and sleep soccer. Their focus is on optimizing physical and mental performance, providing a comprehensive soccer education along with an accredited K-12 academic program. While offering full-time academy programs these locations also offer intensive camps throughout the year and summer, an excellent option for players transitioning to college or looking to take a gap year.
STEP 5
Compete Through the College and Pre-Professional Stage
Once a player has aged out of youth soccer, it's off to college! For college-aged athletes aiming for a professional career, Fortis FC Soccer offers participation in leagues such as the USL W League, UPSL, UWS, NPSL, WPSL, and Pro23. These platforms provide high-level competition and exposure, preparing players for the professional stage. These leagues are great opportunities for college players to maintain their shape and continue to hone their skills in the off season.
STEP 6
Pursue Professional Opportunities
If college isn't your thing or you're ready for the next step, consider competing in DII or DIII professional leagues. Fortis FC Soccer provides unique pathways for both girls, Dimas Escazu a DII professional women's team in Costa Rica and for boys, TFA Dubai's professional team in the UAE. These opportunities allow players to develop their skills in competitive environments while pursuing their dreams of a professional soccer career.
STEP 7
Compete at the Top Tier of the Game
The final step in the Fortis FC Soccer Player Pathway is top tier Division I Professional Soccer.
For Male Players
Varazdin Fortis FC represents the apex of professional soccer opportunities within the Fortis FC network. Competing in the Croatian First Division, Varazdin Fortis FC provides a competitive environment where players can challenge themselves at one of Europe's top levels. Playing in Croatia’s highest league offers exposure to intense competition, helping players develop the skills and resilience needed to succeed professionally.
For Female Players
SKN St. Pölten Fortis FC offers a premier opportunity. Based in Austria, SKN St. Pölten competes in the Austrian Women's Bundesliga and is a regular contender in the UEFA Women's Champions League, Europe's most prestigious club competition. The club has a rich history of success and is committed to excellence on the field, providing Fortis FC players with the platform to showcase their talents on an international stage.
